Wildgrass is the home of 2 photographic artists, Gillian and Dave, each working in their own unique styles.

Gillian has a deep passion for macro floral work exploring the colour and textures of indoor and outdoor flora whilst Dave’s work varies from Landscape to figure work alongside his vintage photography using victorian processes for capture and printing.

Vintage Photography

Alternative Printing

Long before the Inkjet printer, even before the film enlarger alchemists were experimenting with creating images onto paper.

Salt, Albumen and Cyanotype are just a few of what are now known as ‘Alternative’ printing processes and we have been developing our own style of work in these mediums for a number of years now… it’s such a departure from todays accepted processes.

Wet Plates

The Wet Plate Collodion process dates back to the 1850’s, a time before domestic electricity and film and has been slowly regaining acceptance as an alternative to the perfection of digital photography.

I started to become a ‘Collodionist’ last year and I am now totally hooked. The hands on process, the often unpredictable results, even the smell and the stained fingers, its just such a wonderful medium !!

Our Exhibitions

The Art of Photography : Frames Gallery in Perth.
Dave was extremely thrilled to be invited to exhibit a selection of my vintage  photographic works alongside Simon Jauncey and members of the Perthshire Photographic Society for this celebration of creative photography.

Up until 10th March you will be able to view a selection of glass plate negatives alongside various Platinum/Palladium and VanDyke Brown prints. All of the prints have been created from either from glass plate or large format film negatives.
